Lily Allen's Early Hits Experience Viral Revival as She Plans 2026 Comeback Album
British pop icon Lily Allen is enjoying an unexpected career renaissance as her classic songs suddenly go viral among Gen Z listeners – though she admits she still cringes hearing her own early work.
The chart-topping singer, whose four-album discography spans from 2006's groundbreaking "Alright, Still" to 2018's "No Shame," reveals her streaming numbers have dramatically spiked thanks to young fans discovering smashes like "Smile," "The Fear," and "Not Fair" through social media trends.
"I'll be honest – it's still uncomfortable for me to listen to those old tracks," Allen confessed during a candid episode of her popular "Miss Me?" podcast. "Not because I'm embarrassed by them – they were great for their time and actually hold up surprisingly well. But hearing my younger self is... complicated."
The artist has been closely monitoring analytics that prove her music's second wind: "The royalty statements don't lie. There's this whole new generation singing along to lyrics I wrote when I was their age."
Currently channeling fresh creative energy in the studio, Allen describes music-making as therapeutic following her difficult separation from actor David Harbour last year. Her writing sessions have become emotional processing spaces where collaborators double as unofficial therapists.
"In the booth, I can express things I can't articulate in normal conversations," she explained. "My producers have heard more raw emotion than my closest friends. There's magic in distilling life's messiness into three perfect minutes of pop."
A Carefully Planned Return
